Pastors must embrace technology changes

By Roosevelt Wright, Jr.

The message of the Gospel is eternal and unchanging, but the tools we use to deliver it must constantly evolve.

Standing firm on biblical truth does not mean standing still in our methods. To effectively reach today’s generation, pastors must embrace modern technology as a bridge, not a distraction; something we learned during the Covid 19 Pandemic.

Ministry administration and outreach have shifted dramatically. Tithing is no longer restricted to the passing of an offering plate; digital payment platforms like “Cash App,” “PayPal,” and “Givelify” allow members to give faithfully from anywhere. Mass contact systems like “One Call Now” enable leaders to instantly distribute voice advisories, prayer requests, and mini-messages to the entire congregation in seconds.

Inside the sanctuary and beyond, technology enhances how we fellowship and learn.

Printed bulletins are rapidly giving way to “QR” codes scanned directly onto smartphones and tablets.

Administrative and ministry meetings now happen efficiently via platforms like “Zoom” and “Google Meet,” saving time and keeping teams connected.

During worship, big screens visually supplement sermons to engage visual learners, while live-stream broadcasts on social media extend the church’s reach far past its physical walls.

These are just a few ways modern tools serve the great commission.

Technology is simply a vessel; the living Water inside remains the same.

The wise pastor uses every available medium to ensure that the timeless word of God meets people right where they are.

God is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore, but the methods we use to teach and preach that simple message are changinging everyday.
